“I Move Freely” Pilates with Mercede

“I Move Freely” Pilates is a unique modern programme created specifically for people restricted by tightness and/or pain. We have used the principles of Pilates for core stability, combined them with Bio Mechanic techniques for the release of tight muscles, and added physiotherapy based exercises designed to combat back pain. The gives the additional benefits of all round core stability, improvement in back health, and better posture.

Have you ever found that pilates aggravated your back or neck?
Studying the cause and management of back pain gave Mercede a greater understanding of the load applied to the spine during frequently performed pilates exercises. It is this which led her to develop the range of exercises which strengthen the back without strain.

Osteopaths, physiotherapists, chiropractors and GPs recommend Pilates as a beneficial form of exercise to augment their treatments. "I Move Freely" Pilates is one of the safest forms of Pilates for this purpose. Many of the specific exercises are actually prescribed by physiotherapists.
Results should be seen within weeks as posture improves immediately, with strength and flexibility following soon after.

"I Move Freely" Pilates can be tailored to any age group and fitness level, from out-of-shape beginners to able-bodied athletes. Even those with stiff, aching muscles can benefit from an "I Move Freely" Pilates program.

“IMF All Woman” Pilates with Mercede

A class for all women, working on the areas which tend to be either weak or too strong and which can cause problems at anytime from pregnancy through to menopause. Using the I Move Freely principles which are so popular combined with postural correction exercises but keeping it safe and beneficial for ante and postnatal women too.
Ideal if you have:
  • Back pain caused by a postural misbalance
  • Poor posture
  • Weak or separated abdominals
  • Concerns about your pelvic floor strength
  • Stress or anxiety causing physical symptoms

Mercede qualified as an IMF Instructor with the Biomechanic Association in March 2016 so is now including these techniques in all her classes.

"Fit4Grans" is based on the "IMF All Woman" Pilates designed help you keep up with your grandchildren. It will help you to feel confident to bend, lift and chase after little ones.

Pre/Post Natal Pilates with Mercede

The ante and postnatal period sees your body changing enormously and the exercise you do must take account of these changes. We take antenatal and postnatal clients in most of our classes but Fit4Mums will offer classes specifically
aimed at addressing the fitness needs of ante and postnatal women. We often see mums with children of school age who still have muscle imbalances and pain which originated in the ante or postnatal period. If you would like to work on the areas listed below you will be welcome at Fit4Mums classes regardless of how old your children are.

The classes will focus on:
  • Reducing back pain
  • Abdominal work
  • Pelvic Floor Dysfunction work
  • Correction of muscular imbalances caused by pregnancy

Conditioning Pilates with Kimberley

A class combining fitness with pilates for a full body conditioning effect. Ideal for anyone without injury trying to get fitter with a faster paced fitness class. Kimberley uses bands, balls and weights to raise the intensity of the class giving a rounded fitness benefit.
